Welcome to the journey of Jackie Riso
A glass half full
by: Jackie Riso
I’m Jackie Riso.
You may know me from my small hometown in New Hampshire, from where I live now in Boston or from Instagram (@j_riso). Others may not know me at all. If I’m meeting you for the first time, nice to meet you. Welcome to my journey!
A Glass Half Full
Why “A Glass Half Full”? I’m someone who always looks on the positive side of the situation even when it may not be there. To say I look on the bright side is an understatement. I have this relentless positive outlook and love for life that I want to share not just with my friends and those around me, I want to share it with you. With the world. In hopes that maybe it’ll just rub off a bit on you too.
We are in a day in age where everyone has a voice. On one hand, this is great and there is tremendous power in sharing your voice. On the other hand, it can be overwhelming when there is a lot of negativity and hate. Instead of allowing that to divide us, we need more positivity and love to unify us. I want to be part of that voice that helps spread that. I truly believe it is the foundation of everything. More love, less hate.
Growing up I’ve never really known what my passion is or “what I’ll be when I grow up.” I have my master’s degree focused on business and technology, an amazing job as Sr. Project Manager working in Innovation in healthcare at a hospital – I couldn’t ask for more. But there’s something in me that is urging me to share my voice, to connect with my purpose. At the core of who I am, I love to help people. If I can be part of what helps you get through a tough time, inspire you, motivate you, make you smile, make you laugh or maybe just look at things a little more positive – then this is all worth it!
I’ve coached myself through some tough situations. If only I knew back then what I know now it would’ve been a lot easier. I’ve always been self-aware but didn’t always do what was best for me. I’ve learned a lot about myself after endless amounts of self-reflecting and positive self-talk. I spend a lot of time trying to understand how I feel and think - and how I can make better decisions to avoid feeling bad about an unwanted outcome.
Most of the time, you’re never truly stuck. You’re stuck in your head, your thoughts, your indecision, your lack of action, the voices surrounding your life. Understanding how to catch yourself and pull yourself out with a positive mindset can really go a long way.
I want to share this with you, the situations I’ve gone through and how I continue to look at life with the glass half full. That is what I’m here for. I’m taking this leap to follow my heart, to be vulnerable, to be exposed, in the hope to connect with all of you.
Here we go!
Filming Day 1: ACTION! I lost track of the hours.
So what are we going to do? I’m going to make short video clips and blogs 2-4 times a month. They will be posted here on my website jackieriso.com (or subscribe to my YouTube channel here). We’ll talk about life, my fitness transformation, my struggles, my lessons, dating in the modern age and my crazy catfish situation, tough life situations, career growth, how to master a positive mind even when the odds are against you, among many other topics. I realize the more I open up and share my voice, people feel connected, they reach out and ask how I would look at a certain situation or that I made their day, made them smile. Even when the odds are against you, even when you’re stuck, you can and you will get out. That’s what I’m here to tell you.
